A little about me

My passion for photography began some years ago with the purchase of my first digital SLR camera. Ever since then, creating beautiful images has very much become a major part of my life and today I am never happier than when I have my camera in my hand. I am fortunate to live in one the most beautiful parts of the United Kingdom, the Peak District. Having so many wonderful photo opportunities right on my doorstep means I am never short of subject matter, with landscapes, close-ups and nature being among my favourites.

In addition to actually taking photographs, I also enjoy digitally enhancing them, with Adobe Photoshop being one of my favourite programs to work with. I am a firm believer that the image you first capture with the camera is the most important aspect of the photograph and that no amount of digital manipulation can make a poor image great. However, there are many images that can benefit from being enhanced and this is one of the areas of work I particularly enjoy.

My philosophy

The camera viewfinder is just like a blank canvas, with the light that falls on the sensor equivalent to the artist's paint. Interesting subjects, great composition and the creative use of colour can produce stunning photographs that can equal the greatest works of art. Artists paint what they see, a photographer is no different. I hope my work reflects this.
